Fixed prices for the situations I see most: a product to design and build, units failing in the field, a board to check before it's built, a compliance test to pass, a building or plant network whose meters and sensors keep dropping out (RS-485/Modbus), Linux and Bluetooth products on software nobody maintains, and ongoing support. Each package is priced on its page.
Each package below starts with the situation you’re in, says what you get, and has its price and turnaround on the page. They’re bounded on purpose: you know what it costs before you get in touch.
Anything open-ended starts with the diagnostic week, because I don’t quote what I haven’t looked inside. Work outside these packages is quoted as a fixed-scope project from AUD 15,000; a smaller fix that comes out of a diagnostic week goes on a support retainer instead.

I have a product idea and need it designed, built and made
Product electronics from idea to manufactured units, one engineer for hardware, firmware, test and manufacturing handoff. Feasibility week AUD 6,000, then fixed-price stages. Whole products typically AUD 40,000–170,000 over 6–18 months.

Something we make keeps failing and nobody can say why
Units failing in the field, a project that stalled, or a big decision you want an independent read on: one week inside the problem and a written report you can act on with or without me. AUD 6,000, report within 10 business days.

We're about to build a hundred. What's going to go wrong?
Before the pilot run: a review of your BOM, assembly data, test procedure and programming steps, with a written punch list of what the contract manufacturer will trip over. AUD 4,500. Production test fixture designed and built as a follow-on.
-
Will it pass the compliance test?
Find out on my bench what the test lab will find on theirs, before you pay for the lab. For DC-powered and 24 V AC/DC industrial, marine and vehicle products heading for RCM or CE. Pre-scan and report AUD 3,500; with fixes and compliance folder AUD 6,500.
-
Someone designed us a circuit board. Is it right?
A contractor, a tool or an AI produced your board design. Before you build a hundred, have an engineer who ships hardware check it, bring up the first units and get it ready for RCM/CE. Design review AUD 2,500; review plus bring-up AUD 6,000.

Our RS-485 or Modbus network keeps dropping out
Devices go offline on a long RS-485 run, meters won't read, the BMS shows garbage after a storm. A written review of your wiring, your meters and sensors, and a recording of the traffic on the network, with the fixes ranked, AUD 2,500. On-site day in Melbourne AUD 2,000.

Our Linux-based product boots slowly, can't be updated in the field, or nobody dares touch the build
For products running embedded Linux: an assessment of the build, boot and update story, then fixed-price sprints to fix it — Buildroot and Yocto, kernel and root filesystem, boot-time reduction, remote firmware update. Assessment AUD 6,000, sprints AUD 15,000.
-
Our Bluetooth product runs on software Nordic no longer develops
Products still on the nRF5 SDK: an honest assessment of what the move to nRF Connect SDK / Zephyr involves, then fixed-price two-week sprints to do it, including the over-the-air update path for units already in the field. Assessment AUD 6,000; sprints AUD 15,000.

A senior engineer in our corner, a few hours a month
For products I've worked on or assessed: a capped block of engineering hours every month, next-business-day written response, monthly statement, no surprises. AUD 1,250 for 5 h, 2,500 for 10 h, 4,500 for 20 h.
